Charles E. Carver Memorial Endowed Scholarship
This endowed scholarship was established in 2016 by Don and Sherry Kennedy in memory of Sherry's father Charles E. "Chuck" Carver. Don was a past member of the Board of Trustees at Lake City Community College/Florida Gateway College and a board member of the Foundation for Florida Gateway College for more than 20 years. Mr. Carver retired from the United State Air Force in 1971 and from the Veteran Administration in 1991. He received his Associate of Arts degree in 1977 and an Associate of Science degree in 1981, both from Lake City Community College.

Donald R. "Don" Kennedy Endowed Scholarship
This endowed scholarship was funded with a generous gift from Dennis and Tina Roberts and their children, Dennille, Daniel, and Dianna. Mr. and Mrs. Roberts as well as their son Daniel and daughter Dianna are Lake City Community College alumni. Dennis was the 2004 Alumni of the Year and served for twenty -four years as the Third Judicial Circuit public defender until his retirement in 2012.
Mr. Roberts worked closely for those twenty-four years with Don Kennedy, administrative director of his office. He is a close family friend to Mr. and Mrs. Roberts and their children. In recognition of Mr. and Mrs. Robert’s and their family’s respect, appreciation, and admiration for Mr. Kennedy, this scholarship is named The Donald R. “Don” Kennedy Endowed Scholarship. Mr. Kennedy currently serves as a Florida Gateway College trustee and a Foundation board member. He is also the past chairman of the Foundation. Requirements:

An endowed scholarship funded by Mr. Earl Tompkins in loving memory and honor of his late wife, Mrs. Evelyn Tompkins. Mrs. Tompkins was a nurse and operating room supervisor at the Lake City V.A. Hospital for 30 years. Mr. & Mrs. Tompkins were married for fifty-four years.

First Presbyterian Church/Donald R. Petry Memorial Scholarship
This endowed scholarship was established in 2002 and funded by the efforts of family and friends in memory of Mr. Donald R. Petry. Mr. Petry was born in Richmond, Indiana, and lived in Lake City for many years prior to his death in 1994. He graduated from Clay City High School and R. G. LeTourneau College in Longview Texas and received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Air Force in 1957 with the rank of staff sergeant.
Mr. Petry was employed by Clay Electric for 26 years and served as the district manager in Lake City for 19 years. The Lake City community benefited greatly from Mr. Petry's involvement in civic and community affairs, including his membership at First Presbyterian Church. His wife Mary Petry Mader, daughter Linda Petry Hill and son Donald L. Petry sirvive him. Requirements:

Frances Kayo Bowman GLO Endowed Scholarship
This endowed scholarship was funded by a generous bequest from Mr. Francis Kayo Bowman who passed away on April 6, 2011. Mr. Bowman was well respected in the golf and turf industry, having founded Wekiva Golf Club in Longwood, Florida in 1976. He became one of the few men to hold the distinction of Lifetime Member of the Professional Golfers Association (PGA) and a Lifetime Member of the Golf Course Superintendent’s Association of America (GCSAA). In the early 1990’s he was honored by the PGA as Merchandiser of the Year for Semi-Private Golf Courses and was also listed in Who’s Who in America. He sold Wekiva Golf Club in 1998 and retired. His love for the game of golf and turfgrass management was evidenced by everyone whose life he touched. Kayo was predeceased by his loving wife of 63 years, Leola, and survived by his daughter Tammy and son-in-law Chris Wilmot.

Mrs. Kenly was an Army officer serving as secretary and administrative assistant from 1951 to 1955 to General Omar Bradley, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US Armed Forces.

J.Y. and Olema Wilson Endowed Scholarship
This endowed scholarship was established in 2016 by Pattie Dale Tye and Penny Weber, daughters of J.Y. and Olema Wilson. Mr. & Mrs. Wilson was married for 59 years. Mr. Wilson was a 1947 founder of the Columbia Forestry School, the predecessor for what is now Florida Gateway College. He is the longest-serving trustee in the college's history, having served from 1947 to 1983 through various name changes. He was the founder and first president of the Lake City Community College Foundation in 1969 and serve on that board until 1996. The FGC student services building is named the "J.Y. Wilson Student Union Building" in his honor. This scholarship will perpetually benefit deserving FGC students as they pursue their dreams.

This endowed scholarship has been established through the generous donations of James Montgomery, a long-time Lake City Community College, now Florida Gateway College, Foundation board member, and generous donor. “Mr. Mont.”, as he is affectionately known, funded the scholarship by making annual gifts for over 20 years. Mr. Mont spent nearly 60 years teaching in Columbia County schools and at Florida Gateway College.

Julia Scarborough Cline Memorial Scholarship
This annual scholarship is supported by the United Daughters of the Confederacy #2488 Olustee Chapter. Julia Scarborough Cline's husband, George Marcus Cline served in Scott's Company of the 10th Florida Infantry CSA and fought at the Battle of Olustee. Mrs. Cline and her 7 years old son, John, assisted wounded soldiers at the battlefield and helped nurse them back to health at a local hotel following the battle. Ms. Cline's experience reflects that of many southern women who during the Civil War gave of themselves to meet the many challenges that the war presented.

Upon his graduation, Mike moved to the Piedmont region of North Central Georgia where he worked in wood procurement for different forestry films.

This scholarship was established in 2009 as an annual scholarship funded by Mr. Nick Patel, a member of the Foundation for Florida Gateway College Finance & Audit Board. In 2016, Nick along with his uncle, P.J. permanently endowed a scholarship to benefit students attending FGC. Nick and P.J. immigrated to the United States from India as young men and together operate a successful hotel business in Lake City, Gainesville, and Valdosta Georgia with plans to expand to other communities. Their brands include Marriott, Comfort Inn and Suites, Hampton Inn, Country Inn and Suites, and others. Nick and P.J. established this scholarship because of their deep belief in the value of education.

This endowed scholarship was established by a generous gift from Robbie Hollingsworth in loving memory of his father Wayne Hollingsworth. Wayne served a total of sixteen years in both the Florida Senate and the Florida House of Representatives. He was well known for his down-to-earth, friendly personality, his effectiveness as a legislator, and his accessibility while in office. He served on numerous legislative committees including agriculture where he was a true champion for the area he represented as well as the State of Florida. He taught at Columbia High School and was a competitive bodybuilder in his younger days.
